Shopify profit after payment fees
A direct-store sale avoids marketplace commission, but payment fees, ads and apps still need a place in the model.

Direct does not mean cost-free
Shopify gives sellers more control, but the order still carries payment processing, fulfilment, ad and sometimes app costs.
The missing marketplace commission can be a real advantage, but only if customer acquisition does not consume the difference.
Separate payment fees from marketing
Payment fees are usually predictable. Marketing costs are not. Keeping them separate helps you see whether the product has a pricing problem or an acquisition problem.
If the product is profitable before ads but weak after ads, test conversion and retention before simply raising price.
Think in repeat orders
A first Shopify order may be less profitable if paid ads bring the customer in. The model improves when customers return without the same acquisition cost.
For replenishable products, measure first-order profit and repeat-order profit separately.
